Was the 917 in the same type of packaging as the 935? Is it new?

Yeah, it's some sort of throwback line they have. Good construction, all metal. I think the had a 914 and a few others.

The Evora looks suspiciously like my Matchbox one in blue.

(Not my picture, but otherwise identical.)

Also, as according to the Hot Wheels Wiki , Hot Wheels has only produced a Lotus Evora GT4.

It's actually a mixed bag; the Cobra, Evora, and Miura are Matchbox. I used Hot Wheels as a generic term, even though I was brought up a Matchbox-ite. Good on you for noticing.
